Important Distinctions
Restaurant chlorine test strips are designed specifically for diluted sanitizer solutions, not pool water, tap water, or undiluted bleach. Using them for other applications won’t give accurate readings because the concentration ranges differ significantly.
Don’t confuse chlorine strips with quaternary ammonium (quat) test strips. They’re testing completely different sanitizers and aren’t interchangeable. If your operation uses quat sanitizer, you need quat-specific test strips. Using the wrong type produces meaningless results.
Dishwasher test strips serve a different purpose—verifying water temperature and sanitization in mechanical dishwashers—though they use similar color-change technology.
Storage and Shelf Life
